woPad has released the first 9.7″ dual-core CPU tablet with IPS screen – The “iPad 2″ running the latest Android 4.0.4 ICS

woPad has released it’s latest flagship product today. The woPad i9 is the first 9.7 inch tablet with a 150 viewing angle IPS capacitive screen (same screen as the iPad 2) with 1.4GHz Dual-Core CPU and runs the latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich –  an “iPad 2″ running Android.

woPad i9 is one of the first Android 4.0.4 tablets. woPad i9 is running the latest Rock-Chip RK 3066, an ARM Cortex-A9 based 1.4GHz dual-core processor and quad-core Mali 400 GPU. Thanks for the dual core CPU, RK 3066 has superior performance while maintains low power for long battery life. woPad v7+ Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware upgrade is released for woPad V7+ users

Just as what we have communicated with our woPad V7+ customers, Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware upgrade is released for woPad V7+ users today on March 12, 2012. We’d like to thank the support from our woPad community, especially our woPad V7+ customers. We know all of you have been anxiously waiting for this firmware upgrade. It is a big milestone for all of us. We hope you will enjoy this new Google Android 4.0 software on woPad V7+.

Our factory also just received a big order on woPad V7+, and all woPad V7+ production in the next a few months will be used to fill this order; therefore, we are not going to sell woPad V7+ on woPad USA any more. We will contact customers who placed the order in the last couple days and offer them an option to free upgrade their woPad V7+ order to a new woPad A10, which is based on the ARM many-core CPU A10 from AllWiner, and is running Google Android 4.0.3 with full Google Market access and . We will also list woPad A10 on sale on woPad USA very soon.

A bigger screen version of our 2nd generation woPad – woPad i8, is officially released!

Two weeks ago we released our 2nd generation woPad, woPad i7. Now its bigger brother, woPad i8, is also released.

This woPad i8 is the 2nd generation of our most popular woPad with capacitive multi-touch screen. It runs on the latest Rock-chip 2918 CPU based on ARM Cortex-A8 architecture. It uses a super thin and stylish aluminum enclosure similar to the 1st generation of woPad, but everything else are upgraded – to name a few, much faster 1.2GH ARM Cortex-A8 CPU, doubled memory to 512 DDR3, runs Android 2.3, bigger screen with much higher resolution: 8″ screen with 1024×768, 4:3 aspect ratio. It supports 3D games with native hardware acceleration, support Skype video calls, supports FLASH, added front-facing camera and back-facing camera, and the best of all, it keeps the low price. WoPad Android tablet looks like a bigger iPhone 4, slightly – by Cloned in China

Oh, these days in Shanzhai world is bit boring now. The products they make really is nowhere closed to being exciting. We can’t blame Shanzhai, that’s due to big brands just don’t invent any new gadgets that have unique design for the Shanzhai to copy. So blame Apple.

This one, named as WoPad, is a product of this kind that’s hard to differentiate itself. From the front, it looks like iPad clone, but its side frame would remind you of the iPhone 4, so its a iPad-iPhone-4 clone, if you want to categorize it precisely.

WoPad is powered by a 1Ghz samsung pv210 chip, coming with a 7-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, 512MB RAM, 1GB Flash storage, 3000mAh battery, and Android 2.2 OS with Flash support. The dimensions are 197×125×14.5mm. We get no words about the price. Below is a hands-on video that’s show all its basic functions really work and you can play Angry Birds on it with no problem.

Video Review: woPad 7001B capacitive touch tablet – by Shanzhai.com

We’ve seen a lot of conflicting and confusing news about the price and specs of the Wopad 7” capacitive touch tablet. Well we’ve finally got on in our own hands and we’re putting it through its paces for you today.

Pros:
Capacitive touch screen provides very good responsiveness and excellent viewing quality
Unique metallic finish on the chassis
Good solid 720p video playback (great for a nice screen) and includes HDMI out
Crisp, solid browsing experience (but no Flash)
Android App Market included
2 USB connections (1 full 1 mini)Bigger battery than typical shanzhai tablets (3000mah) for 4+ hours

Cons:
Android 2.1 (but it is a solid implementation)
No webcam
Only 2 buttons in hardware (no “back” button in hardware) usually you get 3 (menu, home, back) or even occasionally 4 (includes search button in hardware)

Price:
USD 199.00 at merimobiles.com

Conclusions:
If longer battery life and best viewing quality is one of our top requirements of a 7” sized tablet the Wopad might just be the one for you. 720p video performance is on par with other Rokchip based tablets currently on the market but the capacitive screen does make a significant difference in viewing enjoyment. Considering how good the screen is (for eBook reading also!) it’s a shame the device lacks a front facing web cam and runs only Android 2.1… but that being said… you get a very solid implementation of Android 2.1.
